Major Kira Nerys (Bajoreans list family names first her given name is Nerys) is a Deep Space 9's senior Bajorean militia officer. A childhood in Cardassian labor camps and a young adulthood as a resistance fighter left Kira angry and striken with grief, with an emotional side she found difficult to control. Despite her thin skinned nature, Kira always performs her Deep Space 9 abilities admirably, excelling at strategy and tactics, and has had a great influence in the Bajoran reconstruction following the Cardassian withdrawal. --Trek Trivia Calendar, Friday July 26, 2013
